The Senior Advisor, Credit Risk Oversight, will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the credit risk management framework. This role includes overseeing credit underwriting and adjudication processes. The Senior Advisor will collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization to develop and implement analytics that support the measurement, analysis and research of credit. This role ensures that the credit risk exposure is identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. This position will report to the Director, Financial Risk Oversight, and is part of the Group Risk Management and Compliance team.
Your Day to Day
- Develop and update Credit Risk Policies and Guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Responsible over the oversight of credit underwriting and adjudication processes through the measuring, monitoring and reporting of iA’s credit risk exposures.
- Ensure accurate interpretation and adherence to Credit Risk Policy and Guidelines.
- Assess credit application and structure from lending units and provide recommendations to the senior management.
- Develop and monitor lending activities using out of order/impaired/watch list credits and escalade as needed.
- Ensure that credit loss experience is minimized through sound lending practices and implementation of a policy and guidelines and early identification and action on deteriorating credit situations.
- Prepare quarterly financial risk reports for Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
- Develop and maintain organizational financial risk indicators and limits to monitor and support the business in measuring the impact of their decisions on the risk profile.
- Enhance the credit risk quantification over credit risk. Undertake the research, modelling, development and analysis of risk models such as PD, LGD, EAD.
- Assist entities on financial risk related matters and action plans.
- From risk quantification responsibilities, the Senior Advisor will be a contributor to the Internal Capital Model process, the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process and the Stress Testing Program.
- Ensure that the work carried out under her or his supervision respects the orientations stipulated in the guidelines published by regulatory authorities and legal bodies.
What You Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) is preferred.
- Must have a minimum of 10 years of recent experience in credit risk. Experience in market risk and liquidity risk is nice to have.
- Experience with credit adjudication on loan portfolios.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior management and to exercise sound judgment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sound writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and well-structured reports and documentation.
- Sound knowledge of IFRS 9 and its application, an asset.
- Advanced communication skills in French and English due to interactions with English and French speaking partners across Canada and daily review of correspondence from stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
